This morning Attorney Katherine Kazarian and Attorney Veronica Lee attended the Women’s Bar Association Annual Legislation breakfast honoring Representative Tram Nguyen, Representative Natalie Higgins, and Senator Michael Moore with the 2025 Public Official of the Year Award. These legislators were honored for work in sponsoring the Coercive Control Bill which was passed unanimously by the Massachusetts House of Representatives and was signed into law in June 2024. This Act expanded protections for survivors of abuse and Massachusetts is one of 7 states to recognize coercive control as a form of domestic violence. The event also highlighted other legislation in the state house including, An Ac to Protect the Civil Rights and Safety of All Massachusetts Residents, An Act Relative to Abortion Care for Young People, and An Act to Lift Kids out of Deep Poverty.
