Third-Party Litigation Funding through a Transatlantic Lens

Seminar, Hosted By New York University School of Law

Thursday, November 21, 2024 - 12:00 PM - Thursday, November 21, 2024 - 2:00 PM

The NYU School of Law, the Center for Transnational Litigation, Arbitration, and Commercial Law and the Center on Civil Justice will host a lunchtime seminar on Third-Party Litigation Funding through a Transatlantic Lens on November 21, 2024, from 12:00–2:00 p.m. at Furman Hall, Room 900. This event will offer a focused discussion on third-party litigation funding (TPLF), taking the European Law Institute’s (ELI) principles on TPLF as a starting point.

The seminar will begin with an introduction by Professors Kevin Davis, Franco Ferrari, and David Siffert (NYU). Following this, Prof. Susanne Augenhofer (University of Innsbruck and Visiting Professor at Yale Law School) will present an overview of the ELI’s principles. A panel of experts, including Prof. Tony Sebok (Cordozo School of Law), Susie Kim (Parabelum Capital), Scevole de Cazotte (U.S. Chamber of Commerce), and Prof. Franco Ferrari (NYU), will provide commentary from different perspectives. The session will conclude with a Q&A and closing remarks by Sir Geoffrey Voss (Vice-President of the European Law Institute).

The event will be moderated by Prof. Christopher A. Whytock (NYU/UC Irvine). We encourage in-person attendance for an enriching discussion among academics, practitioners, and thought leaders in transatlantic legal funding issues. For those who cannot do so, the event will also livestreamed via Zoom. A link will be sent out to everyone who RSVPs.
