– Democrats opened their convention in Charlotte, NC, yesterday, and the Affordable Care Act was front and center.  Kaiser Health News has excerpts of the remarks.

– Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius called the “Obamacare” nickname a “badge of honor.”  The Hill, Politico, and The Washington Post all take a look at how Democrats are seeking to reclaim the narrative on health reform for the election season.

– Arizona resident Stacey Lihn addressed the convention in an emotional speech chronicling her daughter Zoe’s battle with a heart defect.  She credited the ACA’s prohibition on lifetime coverage caps for allowing Zoe to get the repeated open heart surgeries she needs.

– The Associated Press fact checked the first day speakers and found that many “embellished” the President’s accomplishments and the ACA in particular.

Politico notes that ten Democrats targeted by Republicans for their support of the ACA are skipping the Charlotte convention entirely.
