Michigan Tech Increases the Efficiency of Solar Cells

Experimenting with the nanomaterial grapheme, a research team at Michigan Technological University has found a way to make solar panels more efficient. The technique calls for creating sheets of titanium dioxide embedded with graphene by mixing graphite oxide power with titanium dioxide to form a paste, spreading the paste on glass, and baking at a high temperature. The graphene increases the conductivity of the titanium dioxide by more than 52 percent. This could allow the use of lower cost solar cells to produce the same electrical output.
