EPA Comments on We Energies Plan to Convert to Natural Gas at Valley Power Plant
Sunday, August 19, 2012

CHICAGO - We Energies today notified the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that the company plans to retrofit its Valley Power Plant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin so that the facility can run on natural gas.

“WE’s decision will improve air quality and result in major health benefits for the many people who live in the neighborhood around this power plant,” said Susan Hedman, EPA Region 5 Administrator. “The proposed retrofit will also create jobs and switching to a less expensive fuel may result in savings for WE’s customers.”

Last December, at the request of residents who live in the area around the power plant, EPA held a listening session to hear concerns over air emissions from the facility.
