British-Irish Visa Scheme Announced for Chinese and Indian Nationals

British-Irish Visa Scheme Announced for Chinese and Indian Nationals
Monday, November 3, 2014

In an effort to increase travel by Chinese and Indian nationals between the United Kingdom and Ireland, authorities in both countries recently announced a single visa option for certain short stay and visitor visas. Under this scheme, Chinese and Indian nationals will be able to take short trips to one country and then the other without having to get a second visa. Please note that some restrictions apply: (i) UK “visitor in transit” and “visitor for marriage or civil partnership” do not qualify under the scheme; (ii) Irish work and study visas are also exempt; (iii) individuals must first visit the country that issued the visa.
