Deepan focuses his practice on affordable housing, financial products, and international tax matters. He has broad experience with implementing tax planning strategies to optimize business operations and minimize U.S. and foreign tax liabilities on domestic and international transactions.

In his previous role with the U.S. Department of the Treasury's IRS Office of Chief Counsel, Deepan provided legal advice and litigation support on tax matters involving financial institutions and the taxation of financial products. He prepared legislative proposals, treasury regulations, revenue rulings, revenue procedures, IRS notices, actions on decisions, and other public and private guidance related to the financial sector and capital markets. Deepan co-authored the final regulations under § 451(b) (T.D. 9941), as amended by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, regarding the timing of income which was awarded outstanding published technical guidance in 2021.
