Alan, leader of the Century City litigation practice, is a seasoned trial lawyer with more than a quarter century of experience handling high-stakes litigation matters for a broad array of clients, including the owner of a National Hockey League franchise, California’s largest institutional landlord, a “big five” movie studio, a global wireless technology company, major financial institutions, and high-net worth individuals. Alan has tried many cases to verdict before juries and judges over the course of his career and has served as lead counsel in multiple high-profile matters.
Alan’s notable trial successes include obtaining a complete defense verdict and a multi-million-dollar award for an institutional landlord after a five-week jury trial in which the plaintiff sought damages exceeding $50 million. Alan also obtained a multi-million-dollar award following an arbitration against a global medical company relating to its acquisition of a software development company. Alan further prevailed in a catastrophic injury case following a month-long trial and obtained a significant monetary award against the defendant as well as punitive damages.
Alan is a nationally recognized thought leader on complex real estate issues and has significant experience representing owners, developers, purchasers, sellers, investors, contractors, and brokerage companies in disparate litigation matters ranging from contract and partnership disputes to construction defect and professional negligence actions. Alan also has substantial experience litigating issues relating to luxury residential development, including restrictive covenant enforcement actions, easement disputes and entitlement challenges.
Alan is an accomplished leader in the community. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Century City Chamber of Commerce and on the Regional Advisory Board of the American Ireland Fund. He has been honored by the City of Los Angeles for his leadership in the Irish-American community and is a former recipient of the Irish Legal 100 Award. He was also named a “Go-To Thought Leader” by the National Law Journal in 2019, and was one of only 75 individuals recognized out of 100,000 potential honorees.
