SPAC Opportunities for FinTechs

The panel will discuss the following topics:

  1. Opportunities for FinTechs to combine with publicly-traded special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs), including past combinations of FinTechs and SPACs

  2. Benefits and disadvantages of a business combination with a SPAC

  3. The future for FinTech/SPAC combinations in light of current SPAC market trends and SEC guidance and proposed rulemaking.

Lunch with Congressional Speaker

A member of the U.S. Congress will discuss current affairs in Washington as they pertain to the financial services industry.

The Future of FinTech in the United States

The panel will discuss the following topics:

1. The Executive Order on Digital Assets

2. The Presidential Working Group Report on Stablecoins

3. The SEC regulation of digital assets, stablecoins, NFTs, yield instruments, ETPs, and investment companies

4. The SEC proposals on regulation of exchanges, security-based swaps, payment for order flow, and gamification of trading

FinTech Funds / FinTech Bank Charters

The panel will discuss the following topics:

1. Funds as an alternative method of investing in FinTechs

2. Regulatory issues with investing in FinTech funds

3. Combining FinTechs and bank charters

Bank and FinTech Partnerships

The panel will discuss ways in which banks collaborate with FinTechs in the payment and lending spaces, as well as:

1. Banks that sponsor FinTech relationships

2. FinTechs that contract with banks to deploy products to consumers

3. An overview of the partnership types, the strategic value to the participants, the structure of such relationships, and the rise of neobanks and banking-as-a-service (BaaS)

Discussion with Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY)

Rep. Maloney is the Chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. She also serves on the House Committee on Financial Services, and is a member of the Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Capital Markets and the Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development, and Insurance.

Financial Regulation: Changes Under the Biden Administration
