Digital-first Wills and legacy planning
Founded in London in 2024 and operated through Mankind Technologies Ltd, adeus is a digital-first Will writing and legacy planning platform. It produces Wills that are valid under the current law of England and Wales, and has been built in anticipation of the reforms proposed by the Law Commission of England and Wales in its 2025 report and draft Bill, including the legal recognition of electronic Wills.
Will writing services and digital vaults treat the Will as a document to be produced more cheaply, or a file to be stored more conveniently. The company has built the layer beneath both. Its platform establishes and preserves the facts that determine whether an estate passes cleanly. That evidential record, secured with tamper-evident blockchain technology, is designed to meet the standards the Law Commission has proposed for electronic Wills.
The company's proprietary AI-enabled Mental Capacity Assessment (for Testamentary Capacity), developed with scientific and legal input, provides a contemporaneous record of capacity, addressing a ground of challenge familiar well beyond England and Wales.
Built with the support of a £500,000 Innovate UK Smart Grant, adeus has been recognised by LawtechUK as a standout example of citizen-facing legal technology and is the first UK member of the Legacy, Innovation and Virtual Estate (LIVE) Coalition. The company serves consumers directly and through institutional partners, and is currently developing a professional platform for law firms and Will writers, giving them access to its proprietary electronic Wills technology and Mental Capacity Assessments so they can extend their services to a generation of clients who expect the convenience and security of digital tools.
