Justin Browne is a co-founder and senior partner at Ketterer Browne & Anderson, where he focuses on mass tort litigation, catastrophic injuries including brain and spinal cord injuries, and class action cases. He is passionate about aggressively uncovering evidence, excluding opposing experts, and developing well-founded, trial-ready cases backed by sound evidence and innovative strategies.
Justin's experience spans the entire litigation process, from meeting with clients through trial work and appeals. He has successfully negotiated substantial recoveries securing tens of millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for his clients, including a $35,940,757 jury verdict for a client with a spinal cord injury. He often argues motions in court, including Daubert and dispositive motions in federal and state courts, and has repeatedly moved to exclude defense experts, successfully arguing these matters before judges in several venues.
Within multidistrict litigations and state court consolidations, Justin is often charged with obtaining and responding to discovery, taking high-level depositions of corporate witnesses and experts, and identifying and developing experts to support plaintiffs' cases. He has served on Plaintiffs' Steering Committees, most recently for the Essure medical device litigation consolidated in California state court, and was a leader in the pain pump and GranuFlo litigations. He recently second-chaired the first bellwether trial in a mass tort litigation involving thousands of individuals and complex interrelated regulatory and scientific issues.
Justin founded the firm after working for nearly a decade at a prominent Baltimore-based firm, where he rose from contract attorney to partner. He also worked at defense firms in the Baltimore area in products liability, employment, commercial, and business litigation—experience he now uses to deconstruct affirmative defenses on behalf of plaintiffs. Earlier in his career, he interned with a judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland and with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Before law school, he worked in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry, in clinical research, and in other healthcare-related capacities.
Justin earned his Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from Fairleigh Dickinson University and his Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of Maryland School of Law.
He is AV Preeminent Peer Review Rated for personal injury, mass torts, and products liability. He was selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star every year from 2012 through 2018 and has been on the Super Lawyers list since 2020. He is an Associate Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and a member of the Trial Law Institute and Diversity Law Institute. Justin has published numerous articles and spoken at conferences on substantive and strategic legal matters, and is frequently called upon to help other attorneys prepare their cases."
