Brian D. Nieves

Professional Biography

Brian Nieves is a partner at Holtzman Vogel, where he advises clients on government investigations, white collar defense, regulatory compliance, congressional oversight, and high-stakes enforcement matters. Drawing on senior roles at the U.S. Department of Justice, Congress, and the White House, Brian brings extensive experience navigating the legal, regulatory, and political dynamics that shape complex disputes and government-facing matters. law, policy, and government operations.

Prior to joining the firm, Brian served as Chief of Staff and Associate Deputy Attorney General in the Office of the Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice, where he drove Department-wide policy and enforcement priorities and coordinated across DOJ components, federal agencies, and the White House on sensitive legal and regulatory matters. He advised senior Department leadership on high-profile issues involving national security, complex criminal matters, congressional oversight, and executive action implementation. Concurrently, Brian served as Chief of Staff for Policy in the Office of the Associate Attorney General, supporting Department-wide policy coordination across the DOJ’s civil, regulatory, and enforcement components. During his tenure at the Department, Brian also helped lead confirmation strategy and preparation for a United States Court of Appeals nominee and served as a representative for the Department on the Board of Advisors of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission. Earlier in the Administration, Brian served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Counsel for Policy.
