Interesting new class action settlement I just picked up.
Looks like Western Express was allegedly made a bunch of robocalls to 14,697 wrong numbers. Not good.
But they were able to settle the case for the comparatively low price of $2,718,945.00. The case is Javarius Puckett v. Western Express, Inc Case No. 25C1496.
Now to be sure the $185.00 per class member is on the higher side but given the low number of class members here I’d say Western Express got a pretty good deal.
Then again they probably could have obtained much greater coverage for just a few bucks more with a broader class definition.
The class definition they chose is:
All persons (1) whose telephone numbers were assigned to a cellular
telephone, (2) who were sent at least one pre-recorded call, (3)
despite not providing their telephone number to Western Express or any of its vendors, and (4) their cellular telephone number had been
reassigned from another person who did provide that same cellular
telephone number to Western Express or any of its vendors.
I am curious how they were able to identify these class members, but that’s a topic for another day.
December 15, 2025 is the claim deadline.
