To demonstrate its continued focus on noncompete agreements and to “highlight the negative impact of noncompete agreements on American workers,” the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will hold a workshop on January 27.
The workshop follows several actions by the FTC to address noncompete issues, including the letters sent last September to several health care companies, which focused on unreasonable limits on health care professionals. Also in September, the FTC issued a Request for Information on issues related to noncompetes.
The workshop and activities of the FTC reflect Chair Andrew Ferguson’s commitment, despite withdrawing the FTC’s defense of the nationwide noncompete ban, to remain vigilant in “enforcing the antitrust laws aggressively against noncompete agreements.” The workshop will be livestreamed for those interested in viewing.
