Barry Melancon, former CEO of the AICPA, has been appointed chair of Baker Tilly International, a global accountancy network. His appointment takes effect immediately.

Melancon, who was named nonexecutive director and chair-elect earlier this year, succeeds Brian Kreischer, who has completed his three-year term as chair. Kreischer will remain a member of the Baker Tilly International board until his retirement next year as chair of member firm Frank, Rimerman + Co. LLP.

With more than three decades of leadership experience, Melancon led the AICPA through a period of significant transformation, including its merger with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) to form the world’s largest membership body of qualified accountants. His tenure was marked by initiatives advancing the profession, benefiting investors, business owners and the public.
